BauMax was an Austrian chain of home improvement stores founded by Karlheinz Essl that expanded significantly across Central and Eastern Europe. Following financial insolvency in 2014, the majority of its retail locations were acquired and rebranded by various competitors, effectively ending the brand's primary operations as an independent retailer.
