Pesti Hazai Első Takarékpénztár-Egyesület was the first savings bank established in Hungary, founded in 1839 in Budapest to promote savings and economic development. It played a significant role in the modernization of the Hungarian financial system before eventually merging into the OTP Bank Group during the mid-20th century.
